As she watches the shaving, Tom’s wife, Margaret, talks about her father who died of metastatic prostate cancer.

My father had prostate cancer treated with surgery and radiation. Subsequently, complications such as constricted ureters led him to depending on stents that keep getting infected possibly because of his suppresed immune system. Are there any other solutions because everytime he gets an infection his creatinine jumps to 7-8.

My father was diagnosed with prostate cancer in ’91 and had a radical prostate removal and some radiation treatment. Now after all that time his PSA levels are starting to go up and he has some enlarged lymph nodes around his kidneys.
I’ve never heard of this type of cancer coming back after so long.

Has anyone been through this and why is it happening? Also what can he use to stop the bleeding or even just something so the blood will not run through his pants. Any help would be much appreciated.
He has been to his doctor and his options are to deal with it or have his bladder removed. Just wounderig if anyone has been through this. Its been five years since the therapy.

He has had a portion of his prostate removed years ago, and is currently going through radiation. He doesn’t really want to go through chemo because of the side effects since he is so advanced.
He is 70 years old. My real concern is that it has spread so fast. It is now in his bones and is possibly terminal. We meet with the DR. next week to discuss it more.
At the end of october it was at 12. At the end of november it was 22. Now it is at 41. Thats a real aggressive cancer. I have a feeling time is limited and was wondering if these #’s give any indication as to what kind of time we are looking at. I know its not over and that everyone is different, but I’m also a realist. Hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.
